A video guide to MultiCar

Transcript for “A video guide to MultiCar”

Admiral MultiCar insurance is perfect for anyone looking to insure two or more cars. Whether you're a couple with a car each or a family with several cars.

Let's meet the Hughes family.

Each car on the policy receives a MultiCar discount, and each policyholder builds their own individual no-claims bonus.

The more cars Phil insures, the bigger the discounts.

Admiral MultiCar covers cars kept at different addresses.

Should one of the family need to make a claim, only their no-claims bonus will be affected.

It's no surprise that families like Phil's voted Admiral Best Motor Insurance Provider.

Admiral - great value car insurance you can rely on.

MultiCar Insurance

Will I be able to drive all the cars on the policy?

You need to be named on a vehicle to drive it.

How many years am I tied into a policy?

The policy lasts 12 months; you then have the option to renew at the end of the year as normal.

If you add another vehicle mid-term, they will be insured up to the original renewal date on a pro-rata basis.

There is a cancellation fee for removing a vehicle before the end of the policy.

Is multi car insurance for me?

If you have multiple private cars including camper vans or a classic car (not company or commercial), then it could save you money.

Read our guide to find out more about multi car.

Do all of the cars need to be at the same address?

No, you can have cars from multiple addresses on an Admiral MultiCar Policy, something that other car insurance providers may not do.

Who can drive my car?

Only the people listed under section 5 of the current Certificate of Motor Insurance for a particular car can drive it.

If you want to add drivers to one of the cars, either for a few days or for the rest of your policy term, you can do this in MyAccount which carries lower admin fees.

The drivers must be eligible for insurance with Admiral. There is a charge for adding drivers to your policy, which we'll tell you about.

If all the renewal dates are the same, won't I get a big bill?

You get discounts on each car you insure, and you can spread the cost by paying for your insurance over 12 months.

If another car on the policy has a crash, will it affect my no-claims discount?

No, every car earns their own NCB on a MultiCar policy, so if someone else has a crash on another car on the policy it will not impact your NCB.

What if I already insure with Admiral?

If you currently have your car insured with Admiral but would like to get a quote for a MultiCar policy that's fine. Log in to MyAccount and get a quote today.

You won't have to cancel your existing policy as you'll receive your discount on your new car straight away. The car that moves across to MultiCar will be added when it's due to renew.

All cars on the policy will renew on the same date.

The other car/s are not due for renewal yet, can I still get Multicar?

Yes, you can add the other car/s onto the policy in the future when they are due for renewal. They will join the policy automatically when their renewal is due, but the discount will apply immediately.

Won't it be difficult to change my car?

Not at all. You can change cars any time you like during the term of the insurance policy. (Admin fee applies).

Do I have to be married to get MultiCar Insurance?

No, you can cover all the cars registered at one address no matter who they belong to, as there will be multiple policyholders. For immediate family members they can still be covered under your policy, even if they live at different addresses.

Can I use my no claims discount on two cars?

No Claims Bonus (NCB) or No Claims Discount applies to a single car so can't be applied to another car on your multi car policy; each car on the policy earns its own NCB. If you sell a car, you can transfer its NCB over.

Can the cars have different levels of cover and excess?

Yes - on a two car policy, for example, one car can have Comprehensive cover while the other can have Third Party, Fire and Theft. The excess can differ based on various criteria such as age of drivers and type of car.

Can I add a van to my Multi Car policy?

You can add cars, homes and van policies to MultiCar and MultiCover through MyAccount. For landlord, you'll need to contact us.

What do you class as immediate family?

Immediate family includes a person's partner, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, mother in law and father in law, brothers in law and sisters in law, daughters in law and sons in law. Adopted, half, and step members are also included in immediate family.

How many cars can I add to a Multi Car policy?

You can add up to seven cars online. If you'd like to add more - you can have up to 20 - just give one of our friendly team a call on 0330 134 3206

Making a claim

Will my No Claims Bonus be affected if a claim is made?

If a policyholder covered by your policy makes a claim or a claim is made against them, only they are affected. The No Claims Bonus of any other policyholders covered by the same policy won't be affected.

How do I make a claim?

Call our Claims Department. Our Make a claim page will give you some more information about making a claim.

We're open Mon - Fri 8am - 9pm, Sat 9am - 5pm, Sun 10am - 4pm.

How do I get my car repaired?

Once you've registered your claim, and if your car is economical to repair, one of our Approved Repairers will:

  1. Collect your vehicle if it's undriveable
  2. Send the estimate straight to us
  3. Give you a courtesy vehicle while yours is being repaired
  4. Use manufacturer parts that won't affect your warranty on vehicles of all ages
  5. Provide a lifetime guarantee on all repairs completed on your vehicle for as long as you own it
  6. Clean your vehicle before it's returned
