Multi Van Insurance

Take the hassle out of remembering your van renewal dates

What's covered?

Insure your vans on one policy

A multi van insurance policy makes life easier if you have more than one van. Having your vans insured on the same policy means you don’t have to remember several different renewal dates – one policy means one renewal date.

If you have up to seven vans, you can add them to your policy online. If you need to insure more than that, give our team a call to discuss. And it doesn’t matter if you use some for business and some for leisure – and the best thing is you get a discount for each van you add.

When you go through your quote, you’ll be asked if you’d like to add more vans, and you’ll also be able to add different named drivers to each van.

What cover do I need?

You have four types of cover to choose from:

  1. Social
  2. Social and Commuting
  3. Own Goods
  4. Carriage of goods for hire and reward

If you’re looking for business multi van insurance, you’ll probably need Own Goods or Carriage of goods for hire and reward cover – but here’s an overview of the four options so you can decide:

Social

If you only need to use your vans for leisure activities, such as fishing or surfing where you need equipment that takes up a lot of space, Social cover will be enough.

Social and Commuting

Planning to use your vans for travelling to work as well as the day-to-day leisure trips? You’ll need Social and Commuting cover so you can travel to and from a single place of work as well as take personal trips.

Own Goods

If you use your vans for business purposes – if you’re a tradesman such as a builder, plumber or carpenter, for example – you’ll need Own Goods cover.

You may need our Vehicle Contents Cover policy upgrade (formerly known as Goods and Tools) if you carry tools and stock in your vans. This upgrade specifically covers your van contents, such as your tools, if they’re damaged or stolen.

Carriage of goods for hire and reward

If your vans are used to deliver third-party goods, you’ll need Carriage of goods for hire and reward. This level of cover is ideal for couriers or furniture removers who earn money by using their van – or even a van fleet – for deliveries of third-party goods.

Levels of Multi Van Insurance cover

Next, you’ll need to decide what level of cover you want:

  • Comprehensive
  • Third Party, Fire & Theft
  • Third Party Only

Comprehensive

This is the highest level of cover. It includes Third Party, Fire & Theft and pays to repair or replace your vans if they’re damaged maliciously or in an accident.

Third Party, Fire & Theft

Third Party, Fire & Theft protects your van from damage caused by fire or theft only and won’t pay out if the damage is caused by something else such as a crash. But if something does happen, we’ll pay out to the other driver.

Third Party Only

This is the minimum level of cover required by law. It protects you if you damage someone's property or injure them while driving and it also protects any passengers if they’re injured in your van. It won’t pay out if your van’s stolen or damaged in a fire.

Bonus Match

Stereo Cover

Unlimited cover for your vehicle's standard, permanently fitted audio or visual equipment.

New van replacement

Comprehensive van insurance policies sold from the 1st of February 2019 include Vehicle Replacement cover as standard.

That means we can replace your vehicle with one of the same make, model and specification if it's:

  • stolen and can't be recovered, or
  • damaged and covered by your policy, and the cost of repair is more than 59% of the current UK list price (including VAT)

This is so long as your van is 12 months old or less, and you're the first registered keeper of it.

We need authorisation from anyone else who has an interest in your van before we can offer this benefit.

If we settle a claim in this way, the lost or damaged van then becomes our property.

What isn't covered:

  • If you don't have the original purchase invoice for the van
  • Any van that wasn't supplied as new in the UK
  • Any van bought under a finance or lease agreement where ownership doesn't pass on to you
  • Any vans sold as 'ex demonstrators' and 'nearly new'
  • Campervans and motorhomes

If you don't want us to replace your van or a van of the same make, model and specification isn't available in the UK, the most we'll pay is the market value at the time of loss (minus the excess you need to pay).
