Royal Voluntary Service is one of the largest volunteering charities in Britain, with thousands of volunteers providing much needed support to older people in communities and hospitals.
“Due to the Coronavirus crisis we’ve had to pause our social groups, including our South Wales Community Connections project funded by Admiral’s Ministry of Giving. However, many of our staff and volunteers continue to care for the thousands of older and vulnerable people we already support, as well as the large numbers coming to us daily, seeking our help remotely.
“We now provide thousands of telephone welfare checks and companionship calls, we deliver shopping and medication and also take people to essential medical appointments. At this crucial time, we have adapted our services to help older and vulnerable people, but there are costs attached to this new way of working.
"The generous donation from Admiral Group has helped us to support people to stay well at home, enable them to access healthcare and ultimately reduce pressure on the NHS front line.”
